Hi everyone, welcome to another week here at Love.Life.Lauren. Sorry I have been MIA but things have been hectic with work. travel, training and helping with a family wedding, but I am back now with an exciting guest blogger and a giveaway! Joining me on the blog today is one of my oldest friends and one of my favourite people to craft with Liv. Liv is also a Stampin' Up demonstrator the owner of INKreations. I will let Liv share her post and then I'll be back with my take on the SU products for Project Life and announcing a great giveaway!
Introducing Liv & INKreations
Hi Everyone! My name is Liv and I’m the owner of INKreations and an independent Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator. I’m passionate about all things papercraft, organising, baking, health, my family, nature and colour! I loooooove colour, particularly bright colour! I love how colour can change your mood, change the feel of a room (or scrapbooking page) and how colour can make you see things differently. A rainbow is one of my favourite things in the whole entire world; it’s full of colour!
I’m excited to be a guest blogger today at Love. Life. Lauren and I’m here to show you some of the new Stampin’ Up! ® products in the “Retro Fresh” range and how they can be used in a variety of ways.
I started scrapbooking after my son was born in 2008, but then I discovered Stampin’ Up® and my love of card-making was born and from there my love of all things papercraft has exploded! Today, I’ll show you two cards as well as a scrapbooking layout using a variety of products from the new Stampin’ Up® Occasions Catalogue.
When I first saw the Retro Fresh pocket cards, I knew I needed them! We always need new craft products don’t we? There are so many things I love about them! The super-cute sayings, the colours, the different shaped cards and of course the blank cards for journaling! I did think they would also be great for sending a quick note to a friend for what I like to call happy mail.
I decided to use the Retro Fresh pocket cards to whip up some quick cards. And that’s what I loved about them… they were so quick! Great for that time when you’re invited to an impromptu party… or like me… sometimes birthdays and other occasions sneak up on you and you need to create and post the card ASAP!
The first card I made used a Retro Fresh pocket card as well as the co-ordinating Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper. I love this paper as each sheet is double sided with a different pattern, so there is plenty of variety when designing cards and layouts, and they all match!!! Who doesn’t love coordinating products? I love Stampin’ Up!® products for that pure fact!; so many co-ordinating products in a range, it’s easy to create! I also used the gorgeous Candy Dots from the Neutral and Bright colour family range. However, I think my favourite part of this card is the banners! Banners are all the rage at the moment, so I had to make sure they featured on my card! And they were super quick and easy using the Stampin’ Up! Banner Punch from the Sale-a-bration catalogue. You can earn this banner punch for free until the 31st March simply by placing a qualifying order with me.
When I made the second card, I saw this Retro Fresh pocket card and knew exactly who the recipient of this card would be! Because she is sooo fabulous! I used the Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper and the Candy Dots! I just can’t get enough of these little dots! The co-ordinate so well with the paper and pocket cards. Simple and easy! That’s how I like to craft. I use the Stampin’ Up!® Scallop Edge Border Punch to give the card a “girly feel”.
I was so excited to be able to create a traditional scrapbooking layout for this guest post. I haven’t created one in a very long time, so was keen to get creating. I decided to stick with the Retro Fresh product range as well as have a play with more of the new products from the occasions catalogue. My son ‘graduated’ from kinder in 2013 and it was such an exciting time for our family, so I didn’t hesitate in using this occasion for my layout.
I used Pinterest to gather some inspiration for a layout and found that for this layout I wanted to go for a clean layout using the new “On Film” Framelits Dies in the Big Shot Die Machine to create the embellishments for the photos. I wasn’t “sold” on these framelits in the new catalogue, but now I’ve had them in my hot little hand, I am obsessed with them! Everything around my house will be framed with a film strip or a polaroid if my husband isn’t careful!
The “boyish” feel of the Retro Fresh Designer Series paper made it perfect for a layout about my little man. I also used some of the Retro Fresh Washi Tape to “hide” the edges of some of paper to take a little bit a the “clean feel” away. The more I created the less clean I wanted the layout to be. I used the new Angled Tag Topper Punch to create tags out of the Retro Fresh pocket cards. I simply cut the cards down to 5cm wide and then popped them in the punch. One click and there was my tag! Watch out if you’re getting a present from me in the near future? It might just contain a tag!
I’m not a huge fan of my handwriting on my layouts. I love it on everyone else’s but not mine. I would prefer to have my journaling printed. However, for this layout, I bit the bullet and did some journaling in my own handwriting. I also featured three Stampin’ Up! ® stamp sets in the layout. I stamped two of these on the Retro Fresh pocket cards using Stampin’ Up!® ink pads. “Happy Day” was from a stamp set of the same name (and was perfect as that was the name of the kinder my son went too!) and the “Awesome” stamp was from the “Cool Kid” stamp set featured in the occasions catalogue.
I was really happy how this layout came together and I hope you like it. I will definitely be doing some more layouts using the On Film Framelits Dies in the Big Shot machine. I’m dying to create a “girly pastel” layout using them! Just got to find the “right “ photo. That might just mean I’m in need of a girls day out!
Thanks for stopping by today and checking out my creations! I hope you liked them!

My take and a prize for you my dear readers
As part of Liv guest posting I have two things to share with you. The first thing is my take on pocket scrapbooking and a layout using the RetroFresh Journalling Cards and some of the RetroFresh Designer Series Paper.
I also used the SU rotary stamp; the ABC-123 Outline Alphabet & Numbers and the Gorgeous Grunge stamps; the SU paper piercing essentials pack, tool and mat; and, the SU hung up cute clips. I used SU ink and my own embroidery floss.
I love stitching on layouts (not only does it look great, I also find it very therapeutic) - so using the paper piercing templates to include the circles across the pages to tie them together.
Now, time for a giveaway! Liv has generously given us a set of the RetroFresh journalling cards, a pack of RetroFresh stickers and a set of RetroFresh washi tape! To win these prizes all you have to do is follow INKreations on Instagram and Facebook and once you have done that head back here and leave a comment letting us know you followed them. Entries close at 5pm Sunday 16 March AEST - entries are open worldwide. The winner will be randomly chosen and will be announced here next week.
Thanks for visiting us here Liv! Keep smiling, L xxx
