Hi all, I hope that you are having a great week! I have been super busy the last week working on invitations and Christmas cards. I'm still taking orders for Christmas cards - you can see the full range of cards I am selling here. If you are interested in purchasing any they are $4.00 each or six for $20. They are all hand carved lino and stamps. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to order. I've been absolutely overwhelmed by the orders I've received so thanks to everyone for your support!
Today I'm excited to be part of a blog hop with a difference today - I participated in this blog hop in July but I am participating again today. It is fun to revisit my answers and update where I am at on my creative journey. You can see my answers from July here.
I've been nominated to participate in this blog hop by Ali Maloney - here is Ali's post on the blog hop. I love Ali! I met Ali earlier in the year at the February Camp.Paper.Scissors. Not only is she super creative but she is also one of the most brilliant writers I have ever met - her posts about her life and her family are so meaningful, well written and inspiring. You definitely won't regret visiting Ali's blog Maloney Mayhem.
So here are my answers to the questions:
1. What am I working on right now?
Today I am working on wedding invitations for a lovely customer and nearly 150 Christmas Cards that have been ordered already! I am also about to get started on my Week 42 using the amazingly lovely October Scrappy Canary Project Life Kit - Hollyhocks and the Embellishment Kit - Heather.
2. How long does it take me to create a project?
It really depends what I am working on. When I am working on cards or invitations I really get into the production line zone! So five hours kind of passes in a bit of a blur! For a project life spread it generally takes a couple of hours because I like to take my time and fiddle around a bit with my layouts. Sometimes though I do challenge myself and set the timer on my traditional layouts - half an hour and go!
3. What are my favourite things to create with at the moment?
At the moment I am really in to painting and mixed media. I've branched into paints and watercolours - which has been so much fun! I have even been creating canvasses!
Recently I also really stepped out of my comfort zone and made two books combining a range of techniques including bookbinding, watercolour, lino cuts, printing and stitching!
4. How does my writing/creative process work?
My process is really varied. When it comes to scrapbooking I love to use sketches - they really help to get the creative juices flowing. With painting and other different mixed media things I just like to take a risk and go with the flow.
Project Life is still the main thing I work on and I have a pretty specific process that I use. I have written it up in 12 easy steps for the Scrappy Canary Blog - head on over and check it out.
5. How do I become inspired and stay inspired?
Lots of different things inspire me - blogs, products, my friends and the universe! For some of my mixed media projects I have been drawing on the universe and drawing different Angel and Goddess cards (I know, I know, totally hippy but I love it and just wait until I blog about my adventure next weekend when I become an accredited Angel Card reader by Doreen Virtue!).
Here is a painting I did in my first Love.Life.Lauren workshop of Kuan Yin. I will blog about the workshop later in the week.
6. What is my signature style?
Colour, colour and more colour! Love it! I like to incorporate fun and quirkiness into my layouts!
Now normally in blog hops you nominate 3 people to go next, well I thought that I would nominate you! My readers and fellow bloggers! So next Monday, answer these questions! Let me know if you post! I can't wait to read about your creative process!
I'll be back later in the week! Keep crafting xxx
