Hi lovelies, I hope that you are all having a great week! I'm having a fun week - I think I am still on a high from our Camp Paper Scissors Retreat! It was amazing (and I will be back later in the week with the full round-up). I'm also having a lovely Wednesday - a great yoga class with an incredible teacher can make the day start amazingly!
As I mentioned last week, my beautiful friend Carol has opened a store - Craft Paper Scissors (plus she has her first ever blog post up today so make sure that you go and check it out here). Carol had a pop up shop set up at camp so of course I had to buy a couple of things - well actually almost the whole of Kelly Purkey's Basic Grey Second City range may have jumped into my hands!
I used the range to create a layout for Week 41 (can you believe that I am up to date? OMG!). Week 41 was a great week (it only just finished) - I had a great time with friends, delicious food and a lovely night at my Mum's in Daylesford - how gorgeous is that lake! I love using square photos on my layouts - it is so much fun! The papers from this range are some of my favourites - the colours and the patterns are so my style!
The stamps that are part of the range are great - the 'Bright Lights Big City' stamp is so cool and I used the leaf stamp on the manilla tags I used for journalling. I also decided to use clusters of strings on the tags - I think that they pretty effective and tie the colours together.
I also used the papers and the sticker sheet to create some traditional layouts for the challenges that we worked on at Camp. The first layout was a tic tac toe challenge that I set - you had to choose three squares in a row and create a layout incorporating those elements - I chose stitching, no alpha stickers and paper clips.
I felt like these papers went so well with the photo of this cool lane way near my house! How awesome is it with the colourful shoes and lanterns! I decided to go quite simple with this layout - the sticker sheet was so great - especially the city sticker! LOVE!
One of the other challenges we had was a monochromatic challenge. I really wanted to scrap photos from when Mum, Chappie and I visited Lavandula last Friday (the scones were amazing), so I decided to really challenge myself and step out of my comfort zone and use purple. I am a fan of purple but it is not a popular colour in the scrapbooking world at the moment.
As I didn't have any purple 12x12 card stock I used purple water colours to paint the background, plus I doodled a border around the page.
I pulled together all of the purple I could find, including the purple circle sticker border and a strip of patterned paper from Second City. I also used one of the purple Doodlebug Designs doilies from the rainbow pack that is available at Craft Paper Scissors and to pull the layout in with the Week 41 layout I also used twine.
So there you have it - some of my creations from the weekend's retreat! If you want to create something using the Second City range, head over to the store and you can buy it (well the things that I didn't buy). Have a great rest of the week! L, xx
